Microsoft Kinect for home automation [Projects]
Kinect is the popular Microsoft device which can track gestures, count people in a room and their position. Are available open source libraries for Linux and Windows to control Kinect. Follow the link at the end of this article if you want to write your own Kinect application and integrate it with Freedomotic. When you have a gesture recognition application it's easy to leverage all the other Freedomotic features and plugins to control your home with full-body gestures. For example you can make a light bulb increase brigthness when you walk closer to it or use your hands to increase/decrease TV volume.
Comment below and let us know a possible application of Kinect + Freedomotic you would like to have.

Microsoft is upgarding its
Microsoft is upgarding its level of advancement. When we use computer systems as efficiency tools to boost the way we play and work, we don't want to be bogged down by a sub-standard input machine like the conventional mouse and keyboard. The idea of a more organic, empty-handed, natural-motion controller like the Microsoft Kinect is well-liked, but execution has mostly unsuccessful to meet anticipations. According to Wired, however, there's a brand new controller called the Leap Motion that may have perfected the motion controller.
CLNUI 4 Java (Kinect)
I found an interesting library that wraps (using JNA) the original Kinect SDK one and also tries to make its use easy for starters.
